The Town of Brome Lake extends its sincere thanks to everyone who took part in the 2026 participatory budgeting process, whether by submitting ideas or by participating in the public vote.
This year, several projects were proposed by residents. Following the analysis conducted by the committee, seven of them were selected and put to a vote.
Nearly 500 residents completed the survey to choose the projects they would like to see come to life.
In 2026, a total of $20,000 was allocated to the implementation of the selected initiatives.

What is a participatory budget?
This is an innovative democratic process that gives the entire community the opportunity to decide how a portion of the municipal budget will be invested to improve our collective well-being.
Here are the final results. Each project's final score combines the citizen vote and the committee's evaluation. The two projects with the highest scores will be completed by the end of 2026.
1- Club de la Bonne Humeur Improvements (92.50%)
Description: This project aims to improve the facilities of the Club de la Bonne Humeur in Bondville through two complementary upgrades: bringing the kitchen up to MAPAQ standards and installing a retractable awning for the outdoor space.
2- Whimsical Walk with the Gang of 7 - Phase I (65.48%)
Description: This project proposes the creation of a year-round bilingual whimsical walk along the Brome Lake trail in the Knowlton sector. The first phase focuses on the section between Douglass Beach and the first access point to the Trestle Cove bridges.
3-Brome Lake Knowledge and Flavours (58.33%)

6- Zen & Chess: An Intergenerational Space in the Heart of Knowlton Park (38.16%)

As part of the participatory budget, each project will be evaluated through both a detailed scoring system and a public vote. The combination of these two results will determine the projects selected for the Town of Brome Lake.

| Feasibility and Sustainability | Feasibility is analyzed by municipal departments based on technical and budgetary aspects, as well as the project's long-term sustainability, to ensure the implementation of realistic and durable initiatives. | 4 points |
| Youth Participation | Projects proposed or led by youth under 18 may receive bonus points to value the engagement of the next generation and encourage civic participation among children and adolescents. | 2 points |
Each submitted project will be evaluated according to the following procedure, which combines a score awarded by a committee based on the predefined criteria above (30%) and a popularity score calculated from the public vote (70%). The final score for each project will be determined by weighting these two components, thereby ensuring a selection that is balanced, transparent, and representative of local priorities.
I would like to propose a very minor project to allocate a narrow 10 feet corridor at Douglas Beach on either side of the roped off swimming area to allow elderly kayakers to wade into the water to enter their kayaks without having to "roll" in and out of the kayak using the aluminium dock. I don't know if this is the correct place to request this. Please let me know.
